Details/Guideline for preparation of Grade B Officer in RBI:
Exam Pattern: There are three phases to clear an RBI Grade B Officer exam to get selected, Prelims or Phase I, Phase II or Mains, followed with the personal interview.
Prelims or Phase I- This phase/part one paper divided into four parts/sections as such Reasoning carrying 60 marks, General Awareness with 80 marks, third and fourth sections carrying 30 marks each in Language and Quantitative Aptitude, respectively. Total 200-marks test must complete within 2 hours.
Phase II or Mains- When prelims are clear, test with the Mains. In this phase Candidate has to solve three separate papers carrying hundred marks and 90 minutes to solve each paper. The paper includes Social and economic issues, English, and Management & Finance.
Personal Interview/ Interview: Candidates who have cleared the two phases of exam successfully are invited for personal interview or face-to-face interviews.
Preparation Model for exam:
While starting preparation find out strong and weak areas, so that one can be serious and focus preparation. Prepare flexible strategy to accommodate changes as per personal circumstances, syllabus, and in exam pattern.
Prelims or Phase I- Quantitative Ability, Reasoning, Language Aptitude
Phase II or Mains- English- English paper has 3 parts: Comprehension, Essay and Precise Writing. Write answers in your own language in Comprehension with word limit which is essential. For Essay and Precise read newspaper articles and do writing practice. For improving vocabulary and grammar, para jumbles, Error correction etc., practice more and more exercises form different books and test papers.
General Awareness: For this last 6 months general knowledge is enough. Listen news daily for 15 minutes, read newspaper articles related to economy and finance, make notes from newspaper articles, collect information from websites, aaps and YouTube channels,. This will help during last minute preparation.
Management & Finance: For this part one have to understand the concept of finance and management, write short notes and practice problems to build confidence. Take help from Commerce background pupils and clear the concepts.
Social and economic issues: This is vast section which covers economic and financial state of country in terms of inflation/deflation rate, GDP growth, GNP etc. This section mainly seals with economic and financial condition of the country.
Personal Interview/ Interview: This is personality test, where mostly questions are asked according to profile and information furnished in Curriculum Vitae. This is the final stage to become a RBI Grade B Officer; once stage is cleared successfully the person is informed about the duties and the place of posting.
Promotion prospects of RBI Grade B Officer
After clearing the exam of RBI Grade B officer, one is likely to/can reach to the position of Deputy Governor 2nd next to the Governor position and the most prestigious in organization before/until retirement. For career growth there is great scopes. For promotions departmental exams are organized. Starting with Grade B Officer, one can rise up to the label of an Executive director or the Governor by taking departmental exams with merit. Even if anyone not willing to continue with RBI there are lots of banks who are will willingly to fulfill their executive post and are ready to pay hefty salaries, as the person have much experience in RBI.
Pay Scale and Other Benefits RBI Grade B Officer
After clearing the selection process and grabbing the Grade B Officers post a secured life is guaranteed, with the highest salaried officer in the country with gross salary of Rs. 75,831/- (including basic pay Rs.35,150/-, special allowance Rs.1800/-, grade allowance Rs.6800/-dearness allowance of Rs.23141/-,local compensatory allowances of Rs. 3664/-) per month. If medical expenses declared then Annual medical allowance of Rs. 4,500/- is offered. Maid allowance of Rs. 3,000/- per month, Sodexo Meal Coupons of Rs. 3600/- per month is provided for grocery shopping, residence arrangement in accordance to the place of posting. Depending on availability residence will be a 2/3 BHK. In case residence not available, one is liable to receive House Rent Allowance of Rs.5273/- for each month. RBI Officers also receive Conveyance allowance of 150 liters petrol or Rs. 16504/- per month. Household allowance of Rs.4000/-, internet data and telephone allowance of Rs.3100/- per month, newspaper of Rs. 708/- per month, Gadget maintenance allowance Rs.500/-. Tour/travelling allowance or Fuel allowance of 150lts for their spouse and other two dependents.
Being a RBI Grade B Officer the life is balanced and has perfect work balance in comparison to other bank employees with excellent salary package. The office timing is typical of 09:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m. As the officers work for 5 days in a week they have lots/plenty of good time to spend with family and friends. Even have time to recreational activities or hobbies which were left far behind for getting the RBI Grade B Officer post.
Eligibility Criteria for RBI Grade B Officer
Age limit: Candidate must in between 21-30 years (General). Candidates pursuing M.Phil or Ph.D. upper limit 32 and 34 years. Relaxation in age limit is given to OBC, SC/ST and PWD candidates of 3, 5 and 10 years respectively.
Educational qualifications- The candidate should be Graduate from recognized university with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD). The candidate must have possessed at least 60% marks in senior secondary and secondary school (50% for SC/ST/PWD).
